As a fully qualified, registered architect I have gained extensive proven experience in practice operations, project management and design leadership of significant projects throughout different parts of the World.

 

I have knowledge of operating sole businesses to ownership of multiple international design studios in Asia, PRC, the Middle East and Australia, working through the inherent business cycles of our property industry and creating sustainable operations.

I have developed a skillset of establishing and understanding the dynamics of overseas branch offices and the business goals of the organization, developing client management and team building culture, to setting the vision and guiding principles of singular or multiple projects.

In mid 2012 I, as one of the five owners of the international Australian company PTW Architects, was acquired by Chinese investors who wished to enter the Australian market and at that point I saw the opportunity to establish a new design company in the growing SE Asia market, particularly in Indonesia.

A location where I am able to leverage off my skills in delivering international design quality by providing these and my management skills based locally to the Jakarta based firm.

I entered into a 30/70% shareholder arrangement with a local architect and over the past five years in Indonesia my new ‘Special Projects’ company have completed many hospitality, master-plans, commercial and mixed use projects both in Indonesia, China and more recently in Laos.

 

During this short time here I have had to establish business contacts, deliver projects, learnt a further new culture, its business practices and regulations and a new language.

Over the many years spent working with PTW Architects I had the opportunity to work up from a newly arrived junior architect from the UK to an owner of this international acclaimed design office.

At its peak in 2008 we had over 200 staff and 8 offices, including Vietnam, Abu Dhabi, China and Australia.

As Shareholder (1 of 5) I was responsible for an architectural design studio operating both in Sydney and in establishing and running the Abu Dhabi branch office, including securing projects, delivering revenue, P&L reporting, securing staff, premises, licenses etc.

As the Design Leader for the Sydney and UAE Studios I set the guiding project visions, undertook physical projects and Board of Director roles.

My remit also included the PTW Architects Interior Design sector and management of our general practise wide marketing department.

 

During this time I worked, lived, designed and delivered many projects in: UAE, Saudi, Oman, India, Australia, Indonesia, and China.

My partners and I sold the entire business in mid 2012 after which I moved my design skills to Indonesia to establish a new enterprise in the growing South East Asia market.
